Smith Services At Oxford

Ella Tatum Smith a daughter of the late William and Martha Jane Purdy Tatum was born May 30, 1873 in the state of Georgia and passed away at Calico Rock October 27, 1960 at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 27 days. She was the widow of the late Mark L. Smith who preceded her in death by several years, as did also a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Montgomery (Essie).
Surviving children are two daughters, Mrs. Clyde LaFevers of Calico Rock and Mrs. M. O. Montgomery (Hazel) of Mountain Home; and one son, E. R. (Ramsey) Smith of Lake Ozark, Missouri. Other survivors include three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great, great, grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Tilden Clifft and Mrs. Emma Ballard both of Oxford and Mrs. Minnie Nilton of Wenatchee, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, October 29 at the Oxford Methodist Presbyterian Church of which Mrs. Smith had been a long time member (Methodist). Officiating ministers were: Rev. LeGrand, pastor of the Calico Rock Methodist Church and the minister of the Mountain Home Church of Christ. Memorial songs were directed by Graydon Bone, with Mrs. Tressie Edmonston at the piano.
Burial was made in the Oxford Cemetery with White River Burial Service in charge. Casket bears: John Taylor, Henry Helm, Remmel Rowden, Joe Clifft, Bob Webb, and Thurl Cochran.
