Bertha E. Smith 87 of Mountain Home died Thursday March 11, 1993 at Baxter Manor Nursing Home.
Smith married Kirby F. Smith on December 1, 1935 at Salem. She was a member of the College and North Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith was a Mountain h
Home resident since 1946, formerly of Richmond, California. She was born January 12, 1906 at Wiseman and was a school teacher until her retirement in 1967. She taught school a total of 43 years from 1923 until 1967 in Mountain Home School District. She graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a B.S.E. degree.
Survivors include three nieces, Jean Biggers of Harvey, Ill., Jeannette Burk of Mountain and Betty Shuff of Nickerson, Kansas; six nephews David Montgomery of Springfield, Missouri, Morris Montgomery of Mammoth Spring, Cecil Keeler of Homosassa, Florida, Bill Burk of Mountain, Andy Burk of Wichita, Kansas and Howard Keeler of Ellensburg, Kansas; three sisters-in-law, Velma Walker and Hazel Smith both of Mountain Home and Ima Jean Beyers of Little Rock; a brother-in-law, Red Smith of Mountain Home; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services were held March 13 at 2 p.m. at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home Chapel in Mountain Home with Brother Mike Shero and Brother Robert F. Lawyer officiating.
Burial followed at the Oxford Cemetery with Kevin Montgomery, Mark Montgomery, Wylie Smith, Roy Keeler, Tom Fisher and Jim Grimmett as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack Gregory, Jack Cochran, Murrell Dacus, Arnold Harp and Carl Sheid.
