C. M. Smith Dies at Home Near Rodney

Chesley Morris Smith one of this section’s best known citizens died Saturday at his home near Rodney. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Trimble Campground Church, with the Rev. Remmell Rodwen of Oxford officiating. Burial was at Trimble Campground with the Roller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith had been a resident of this section for about 35 years. He was born April 6, 1874 in Louisiana. He moved to Baxter County from Texas in 1917 and spent the remainder of his life in that county. He was a resident of near Mountain Home for about three years, moving back to his farm near Rodney a year or more ago.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Smith of Mountain Home; a daughter, Mrs. Toby Harper of Tulsa, Okla.; and two sisters, Miss Eula Smith and Mrs. Mattie S. Oakford both of Duncan, Okla.
