November 17, 1937 - July 22, 2017
John Franklin Smith, son of the late Wilkon Henry Smith and Capitola Copeland Smith, was born November 17, 1937 in LaCrosse, Arkansas. He departed this life July 22, 2017 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 5 days. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. John served four years in the United States Air Force, much of that time he was stationed in Italy. John spent his working years a manager of convenience stores in Riverside, California. He faithfully attended Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne.
He leaves to mourn his passing; two brothers: Roger Smith and wife Annalee of Ash Flat and James Smith and wife Gaye of Melbourne. He will be missed by his nephews and nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and good friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Carrie Boatman of Riverside, California; one nephew: Tom Smith of Greenbrier, one great niece: Talena Armstead of Ash Flat and one great niece: Branna Gomez of El Dorado, Kansas.
Visitation will be Monday, July 24 at Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne from 6-8 p.m. Graveside funeral service will be Tuesday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. at New Liberty Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: New Liberty Cemetery, c/o Bancorp South, P. O. Box 70, Melbourne, AR 72556.
Pallbearers: Al Smith, Grant Smith, Terrell Smith, Donnie Smith, Nelson Armstead.
