Died September 25, 1938, on train near Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas.
Son of Seth Edward "Ed" & Elizabeth "Eliza" Simes Parnell.
Married Rose Ann Whitfield, November 7, 1920, Norfork, Baxter County, Arkansas.

Abraham Parnell lost a hand early in his adult life in a sawmill accident, but after recovering from the wound, he continued to operate a sawmill with one hand and a stub arm until his death.

Abraham was hit by a Missouri Pacific "Redball" train about four miles south of Norfork, Arkansas, around 9:30 p.m. September 24, 1938. He was put on the train and taken to Calico Rock, where it was found he suffered a compound fracture of the left leg, a fracture of the right leg and a left hip injury. He was removed the next morning and returned to his cousin Carles Parnell's home near Norfork. His condition worsened, and he was placed on a train for Little Rock, but he died near Batesville.

Abe Parnell was born March 12, 1889 in Missouri; died September 25, 1938 at the age of 49 years, six months and 13 days. He came to Arkansas when a young man and was married to Miss Rose Whitfield. To this union was born three children, E.J., Monteen and Margaret.
He was a member of the Methodist church, a loving husband and father, and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, three childreen, one siser, Mrs. Anna Copeland of Missouri, two brothers, John Henry of Mammoth Spring, AR and Elmer who is in the Veterans' camp at Huron, South Dakota and an aunt, Mrs. Bania Adams of Norfork, several cousins and a host of friends. His sunny smile and cheerful words will be missed by all, but our loss is Heaven's gain.
He has only gone on to prove the way for his loved ones. A vacant chair that can never be filled; a voice that is stilled forever, but how sweet will be the reunion in beautiful Heaven where there will be no tears, no sighing, no heartaches and no parting.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of his cousin, Charlie, Monday at 2:30 o'clock PM by Rev. Craig, pastor of the Methodist chruch at Calico Rock. Interment was in the Galatia Cemetery.
