Funeral services for Chad Everett Parnell of Norfork will be at 2PM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Norfork with the Rev. David Wiley and the Rev. Bob Mathis, officiating. Chad Parnell died Sunday, Sep 7, 2003.
Chad Parnell was born Nov 21, 1968, at Mt. Home to Everett Carl Parnell and Dean Horn Parnell. He married Angela Towsend on Dec 1, 1990, in Norfork. Chad enjoyed hunting, playing softball, coaching T-ball and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the Norfork First Baptist Church.
Chad Parnell is survived by his wife, Angela; daughter, Halen Mackenzie Katherine Parnell and parents, Everett and Dean Parnell, all of Norfork; grandmother, Norma Horn of Old Joe; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dwaine and Beth Pickell of Jordan; and lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Chad is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8PM today at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7PM. Burial will be in the Galatia Cemetery with Marty Wilson, Dennis Lawton, Steven Whithead, Jody Cox, John T. Oldham and Craig Killian as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are David Henderson, Robert Cox, Joey and Ronnie Langston, Henry Horn, Dwaine Pickell, Bruce Cochrum and Kippie Stegal. A Norfork man was killed on Highway 177 late Saturday night when he lost control of his truck, ran off the side of the road and overturned in a ditch.
Chad Parnell, 34, of Norfork died in the one-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 11:55PM Saturday on Highway 177, just less than a mile west of Highway 5. Parnell was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 truck westbound on 177 when he entered the westbound ditchline. Parnell then oversteered and crossed both lanes of traffic on Highway 177, a police report said.
The truck then entered the eastbound ditchline and overturned, coming to rest on its side in the ditch.
No charges were filed in the accident, but it is still under investigation by Arkansas State Trooper James Brown. Assisting in the accident were the Norfork Fire Department, Baxter Regional Medical Center and the Baxter County Sheriff's Office.
