ROGERS — Jim H. Smith, 75, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at his residence in Rogers. He was born Aug. 17, 1938, in Tulsa, Okla.
He proudly served in the United States Navy. He owned Jim's Bible Book Store in Fayetteville and worked at Superior Industries in security for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Jim enjoyed gardening and collecting Vaseline glass and could be found an the front porch at 5 a.m. every morning drinking coffee and waiting for the newspaper man.
His family was the love of his life and he truly enjoyed spending lots of time with them. The grandchildren fondly remember being taken to the front porch for a "Grandpa lecture."
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grand son, Joshua Phillips.
Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy; three daughters, Pam Hayward and husband, Chuck of Tulsa, Okla., Kathie Smith of Tulsa, Deena Jackson and husband, Nick of Rogers; one son, Scott Smith of Tulsa; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rogers.
Memorials may be made in honor of Jim to Washington Regional Hospice, 34 Colt Square Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers. Words of comfort may be expressed at stockdalefuneral.com.
