GRAVETTE -- Ester May Smith, 91, of Gravette died Sept. 23, 2005, at Highland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bella Vista. She was born June 26, 1914, in Barren Township, Mich., to Thomas Clemens and Edith Beladine Clemens. She married LeRoy E. Smith in 1929. She was a shipwelder in Los Angeles during World War II and worked for Kodak until her retirement in 1979. She moved to Gravette in 1993. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gravette. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959 and a granddaughter.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Smith and wife Lela of Livermore, Calif.; two daughters, Betty Howard and husband Bill of Gravette, and Janice Webster and husband Fred of Bella Vista; a half-brother, Darwin Hawkins of South Bend, Ind.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Gravette with the Rev. Steve Cook officiating. Graveside services were held Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Gravette.
