Bertha Ina "Ilene" Smith, 64, of Decatur died Saturday, July 9, 1994, at her home. Born Jan. 9, 1930, at Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Tony Arthur and Lola Stevens Carter, she was a homemaker and had been a resident of Decatur since 1978, moving there from Overland Park, Kan. She was a member of the Eveready Home Demonstration Club in Decatur.

Survivors are her husband, Eldridge Forrest "Smitty" Smith of the home; a son, Richard E. Smith of Gentry; three daughters, Barbara Johnson of El Cajon, Calif., Kerri Williams of Bentonville and Beth Baker of Gentry; four brothers, Tony Carter of Decatur, Arvin Carter of Clay Center, Kan., Milo Carter of Decatur and Lester Carter of Salina, Kan.; five sisters, Veda Monk of Gentry, Verna Falk of Decatur, Margery Kuhn of Leonardville, Kan., Sharon Crowder of Salina, Kan., and Shirley Zentz of Manhattan, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Terry Eaton officiating. Burial is in Falling Springs Cemetery near Decatur.
