Funeral services for Jacob Franklin Smith, 83 years old, who died March 3, was held Wednesday afternoon, March 5, at the First Christian Church in Stilwell. Mr. Smith was born December 13, 1869, at Limestone, Tenn.
He was married to Maggie Garrison on October 19, 1889. Mrs. Smith preceded him in death.
He was baptised on October 12, 1888 and began preaching regularly in 1896. During his active years as a preacher, he conducted more than 200 revival meetings and baptized more than 1,000 people, and did local pastoral work in 15 different congregations. He had resided in Stilwell about four years during which time he had been active in church work and affiliated with the Christian church.

He is survived by four sons, Oscar L. of Lorenzo, Texas, Earl C. of Siloam Springs, Ark., Melville of Garden Plains, Kansas, and Virgil F. of Joinville, Brazil; one daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Gruver of Kenya Africa; two brothers, Charles W. of Gallatin, Mo., and John of Chuckey, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Houston Coulston of Chuckey, Tenn., and Mrs. Sarah Garrison of Mangum, Okla.; thirteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Siloam Springs, Ark., cemetery with Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs conducting the services.

Mrs. J. F. Smith, wife of Rev. J. F. Smith, retired Christian Church minister, died at her home in Stilwell following a long illness. Funeral services were held at the Roberts Chapel with Rev. E. R. Hall, minister of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Siloam Springs, Ark., cemetery.
Mrs. Maggie E. Garrison Smith was born Oct. 19, 1872 in Denton County, Texas., and died Oct. 31, 1950, at the age of 78 years and twelve days.

She was married Oct. 27, 1889 to Jacob Franklin Smith. She had been a member of the Christian church since 1889.

She moved with her husband from Wetville about two years ago when he retired from the ministry.

Other than her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles Gruver of Kijabe, Kenya Colony, East Africa; four sons, Oscar L. Smith of Lorenzo, Tex., Earl C. Smith of Siloam Springs, Ark., Melville Smith of Garden Plains, Kansas and Virgil F. Smith of Joinville, Brazil, South America; two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral home records list her father as William Garrison. Her mother is Chairily Carpenter.
