SULPHUR SPRINGS — Velda Austin Davis, 91, of Sulphur Springs died March 26, 2008, at the Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Gravette to Alfred and Mabel Netherton Austin. She was a lifelong area resident of Sulphur Springs.
She graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University with a degree in teaching.
She was a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Sulphur Springs and was a talented artist.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, LeRoy Davis on May 14, 2002; and a daughter, Jeannie Fleischer on Aug. 26, 2007.
Survivors include her son, Marvin Davis and wife, Susie, of Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Jennifer Cristofaro of New York, Jon Crawford of Marshfield, Mo., and Daniel Fleischer of Sulphur Springs; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Alden Austin of Rogers.
Graveside services were Saturday in Sulphur Springs.
Memorials may be made to the Lee Cemetery Care Fund, c/o Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, Mo.
