DAVIS, William Russell - Died at his residence in Bentonville, Arkansas on Sunday morning, January 26th, 1908, Dr. W.R. Davis, aged seventy-five years past. Dr. William Russell Davis was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky on the 22d day of November 1832. After completing his study of medicine and surgery he engaged in the practice of his profession in Kentucky, in Kansas and in Benton county, Arkansas, where he located in July of 1886. He was an active man in his younger days and devoted to the study and practice of his profession. During the latter years of his life ill health and infirmities caused him to abandon the practice of medicine and surgery and kept him confined largely to his room and his premises. He was a member of the Christian Church and of the Masonic Order. He leaves surviving him a wife and four sons and three daughters and an only brother, Samuel Davis, of Rich Hill, Mo., who is the last survivor of his family. Samuel Echols Davis, his son by his first marriage, formerly lived in this city and is buried in the cemetery at this place. Dr. Ellis conducted the funeral services at the residence and the remains were laid to rest in a vault on the family lot in the Knights of Pythias cemetery in this city by the Masonic Order.
