JONES, Charles A. - Charles A. Jones, a retired locomotive railroad engineer and prominent farmer and fruit grower, died suddenly at his home one and a half miles southeast of Centerton Wednesday morning, August 23rd. Mr. Jones had risen early and had finished his morning chores. Feeling tired, he laid down to rest and death came without warning. Born in Columbus, Ohio Sept. 10, 1864 he began working in the railroad shops when quite young. He went to Kansas City and traveled widely for several years. In 1900 he moved to California where he worked for the Southern Pacific, residing in Sacramento. On Nov. 23, 1911 he married Susie Keller of this county. In July 1917 Mr. Jones retired from railroad duties and came to Centerton and purchased a small fruit farm in the vicinity of his wife's relatives where he made his home till death. Funeral services were held at Barron Cemetery last Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. F.A. Bradshaw of Vaughn officiating under the direction of the new Centerton Hardware Company of Centerton. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Susie Keller Jones.
