JONES, Lewis Swart - Died, at his country home five miles south of Bentonville, Ark. on Friday, July 10th, 1925 at 9 o'clock a.m., Lewis S. Jones, after an illness of two weeks. Lewis Swart Jones, son of John Clark Jones and Asenah J. Swart, was born at Deep River, Iowa on June 24th, 1880 and at the time of his death was 45 years and 16 days of age. When but a small child he moved with his parents to Audubon, Iowa where he resided until 1894 when, with his parents, he moved to Bentonville in November in which vicinity he had lived the remaining years of his life. In 1906 he was married to Gertrude Hays, also of Bentonville. To this union were born four children - Florine, Francis, Robert and Josephine - all of whom are at home. In 1903 he professed faith in Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Pleasant Site Missionary Baptist Church, remaining a faithful member until his death. Besides his wife and four children he leaves to mourn his going three sisters and one brother - Mrs. H.W. Gipple of Bentonville; Mrs. G.G. Lewis of Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Villa Pratt of Centerton and James F. Jones of New Norway, Alberta, Canada all of whom were present at his bedside when he passed to the Great Beyond. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church at Bentonville by Brother McMahen at 3 o'clock p.m. on Saturday, July 11th, 1925 after which he was laid to rest in the city cemetery beside his father and mother. Lewis S. Jones was a man of upright character, a man loved and respected by his fellowmen, as was shown by the many beautiful floral tributes sent in loving sympathy to the bereaved family.
