Harry M. Smith, 84, of Calion died at a local hospital Friday afternoon following a short illness. Mr. Smith was born in Marland, Mo., Aug. 17, 1879, the son of Augustus and Amanda Gill Smith. He was a retired employe of the Calion Lumber Co. and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rachael Walker and Mrs. Ruby Smith, both of Calion; three sons, H. T. Smith of El Dorado, C. V. Smith of Shreveport, La., S. D. Smith of Hampton; three sisters, Mrs. Mona Kindle of Sterling, Ill., Mrs. Elbert McFarland of Waskom, Tex., and Mrs. Trozy Mays of Jacksonville, Fla., five granddaughters, five grandsons, a great grandson, and a great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist Church in Calion with Rev. James Fore and Rev. Floyd Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be George Blackmon, Thomas Goodwin, Jr., Roderick Morgan, Thurman White, Robert Wells and Fred Gathright. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Henley, Dr. L. D. Wilson, Jr., and employe of Calion Lumber Co. (The El Dorado Times - May 16, 1964)
