March 1, 1907 - November 27, 1967
John Alexander Smith, 60, of Calion died Monday morning in a local hospital. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 706. Survivors include two sons, Randell M. Smith of Pine Bluff, and Johnny M. Smith, U. S. Navy; a daughter, Mrs. Morris Russell of Calion; a brother, Robert N. Smith of Calion; three sisters, Mrs. Boyd Evans of Calion, Mrs. T. J. Trosclair of Norphlet and Mrs. Tom Turner of Bruce, Miss.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. E. J. Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Pratt Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Monroe Clawson, Jake Cook, Maxwell Nelson, Henry Epps, Gene Epps and James Staples. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Local 706, Neal Watley, Charlie Parker, N. T. Murphy, Tom Davis and Johnny Davis. (El Dorado Times - November 18, 1967)
