JACKSON, Albert - Died, July 3rd, 1905 at his residence near Centerton, Ark., Albert Jackson in the 80th year of his age. The deceased was born in Overton county, Tenn. Jan. 25, 1826. In 1829, in the fourth year of his age, his parents, James and Rebecca Jackson moved from Tennessee to Cane Hill, Washington county, Ark. which at that time embraced all of the territory now contained in Washington, Benton and Madison counties. Early in the thirties the family moved to what is still known as the Jackson neighborhood, some 3 miles west of Bentonville. Albert was one of the oldest of the 15 children born to James and Rebecca Jackson. His whole life from childhood until death was spent in Benton county and not far from his childhood home. He was first married to Miss Maria Moore. To them were born 8 children, 3 sons and 5 daughters. One son, Thomas Jackson, and 3 daughters, Mrs. Louisa Jane Duberry, Mrs. Nannie Henegery and Mrs. Mollie Chaney are living, two sons and three daughters having gone before. November 23rd, 1889 he was married to Mrs. Lethie Maples. In this happy union, a blessing to each, they lived until separated by death. Bro. Jackson professed religion in his youth and united with the C.P. Church and held his membership with that church until 1868 or 1869 when he united with the church then known as the Christian Union church. The congregation to which he belonged having ceased to exist as such, he again united with the Corinth congregation of the C.P. church organized at Centerton in 1904. Bro. Jackson's long life in our midst made him well and familiarly known as a professed Christian, a good citizen, a loving father and a devoted husband. His long life, his extensive acquaintance, his genial spirit and hospitable nature, and his many friendly and charitable deeds will ever he held in gracious memory. His funeral, attended by a very large congregation of friends, neighbors and relatives, testified as nothing else could to the esteem in which he was held by the community. His remains were laid away in the Centerton cemetery there to await the Resurrection morn. May the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, comfort the bereft companion, the beloved children and relatives with the comfort which He only can give. P. Carnahan, Pastor.
