JACKSON, Geo. P. - Geo. P. Jackson of Bentonville died yesterday morning in a St. Louis hospital where he had been for several weeks. His condition has been considered serious for some time and his wife and both sons, Edwin F. Jackson of this city and Elmer Jackson of Bentonville, were with him when he died. The body will arrive this morning on No. 5 and taken to his home at Bentonville for burial. Mr. Jackson, who was past 60 years of age, was one of the oldest and best known business men in this part of the state. He was for years at the head of the Jackson Dry Goods Co., Bentonville's largest mercantile store, but retired from active interest in the business some years ago. He was director of Benton Co. National Bank of Bentonville, vice president of the First National Bank of Rogers and had large interests at Corpus Christi, Tex. where he had been in the habit of spending the winters. He was a man of the highest ideals and was always a power in a community for good. Benton county has lost one of its best citizens by the death of Mr. Jackson.
