MARTIN, William J. - William J. Martin was born in Warren county, Kentucky August 1, 1829. Removed to Illinois when 16 years old. Came to Benton county, Arkansas in 1897. He made a profession of Christianity and united with the Missionary Baptist church about 24 years ago. Mr. Martin was twice married. Four children came to bless the first union, and six, the second. He passed away at 6 o'clock Friday morning, Feb. 9th, 1917 and after appropriate funeral service at the residence the remains were laid to rest in hope of eternal life. Upon each member of the family we invoke a blessing. The family requested me to say that they are duly grateful for the uniform kindness of neighbors and friends generally during the illness. J. MARTIN, Elizabeth BANDY - Elizabeth {Bandy} Martin was born in Williamson Co., Ill. in 1841 and resided there until 1897 at which time she with her husband moved to Benton Co., Ark. Grandma Martin united with the Missionary Baptist church about 35 years ago. She had been a great sufferer for many years with cancer of the nerves. She leaves an aged husband, 2 sons, George W. and Robert M. Martin, and 1 daughter, Mrs. Eliza Shoemate of Fort Smith, Ark., also 2 step sons, I.L. Martin of Perry Co., Ark. and J.A. Martin of Polk Co., Ark. Remains were laid to rest in Bloomfield cemetery.
