ROGERS — Gerald "Jerry" Eugene Martin, 81, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home, under the care of Washington Regional Hospice. He was born Jan. 7, 1933, in Hume, Mo., the son of Frank Martin and Gorda Walker.
He served in the Air Force where he earned an Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed golfing and RVing across America. He moved to Rogers in 1965. He worked for J.B. Hunt for 28 years. In 1969, his brother-in-law sold five trucks to J.B. Hunt and Jerry became the first employee of J.B. Hunt Transport.
He lived in the Northwest Arkansas area since 1965 after moving from Madill, 0kla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, whom he married June 16, 1956; three daughters; three sisters; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time on May 23 at First Baptist Church of Rogers.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on May 23 at First Baptist Church of Rogers, with Pastor Wes George officiating.
Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard of Rogers will provide military honors. Entombment will follow the service at the Rogers Mausoleum at Rogers Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to "Elevate Generosity" at First Baptist Church, 3364 W. Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, AR 72758; or Washington Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 356, Fayetteville, AR 72702.
