HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Betty Kirksey Nichols, 72, of Hutchinson died Nov. 20, 1995, at Hutchinson. She was born May 22, 1923, at Brightwater to Birch L. and Josephine Baker Kirksey. She worked as a nurse's aide in South Carolina and Hutchinson and was a bowling instructor and a Methodist. She moved to Hutchinson in 1961 from South Carolina.
Survivors include her husband, retired Col. Howard E. Nichols of the home, to whom she was married March 20, 1932, in Mission, Texas; one son, Mike Nichols of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Pat Petterson; five grandchildren, Jeff Phillips, Chris Phillips, John Nichols, Joy Petterson and Annie Petterson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elliott Funeral Home of Hutchinson. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Rogers Cemetery with the Rev. Robert B. Brooks and Jack Garner officiating.
Memorials may be made to Hutchinson Public Library; the American Cancer Society, or to the University of Kansas Athletic Department basketball program, in care of the funeral home.
