Mrs. J.R. Nichols of the Hebron neighborhood 10 miles southwest of Rogers dropped dead yesterday afternoon while attending the funeral of a brother, Tom Featherston, near Hiwasse. Mrs. Nichols has not been in good health all winter but was improved this spring and apparently was feeling about as usual when she left her home yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Nichols has been a resident of the Hebron neighborhood the last 36 years, living on the same farm all that time. She was a member of a pioneer Benton County family and was highly esteemed by everyone who knew her. She was always a devoted wife and mother and a faithful worker in the church. She was untiring in caring for her husband who has been ill the past year. Mrs. Nichols is survived by her husband, John R. Nichols, two daughters, Mrs. Fay Hubbard of the Oak Hill neighborhood, who taught the school there the past two years, and Mrs. Elmo McCord who lives on West Walnut Street, three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Maggie Dunnaway of Hiwasse and two brothers, Jim and Cal Featherston of Centerton, and a number of other relatives. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3:30 at the Hebron church with interment in Hebron cemetery in charge of Bryant.
