NICHOLS, James Harvey - James Harvey Nichols died at his home in Colville township Jan. 25th, 1898 at 7 a.m., aged 77 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was born in Mercer county, Ky. July 17, 1820; was married to Miss Frances B. Hicks of Scotland county, Mo. Three children were born of this union, all of whom are living. They are: John Nichols, Harvey W. Nichols and Mrs. Bait Carroll. He lived in Rails county, Mo. until 1855; then in Jasper county until the beginning of the Civil War; then in Pettis county until the war was over; then moved to Benton county, Ark. He leaves a wife, three children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. His wife and children were with him constantly in his long last illness and did all that loving hearts and willing hands could do to relieve him. He was a patient, loving father and husband; he governed his household by the laws of love and kindness and was ever ready with his sympathy and wise counsel for his dear ones, whom he loved with all the strength of his kindly, affectionate nature. He was not a church member but he went about doing good and loved and trusted his Redeemer and in his last hours death had no fears for him. A Friend.
