BROWN, Beattie - Beattie Brown, 90 years of age, died suddenly in Siloam Springs on Monday. He was buried in the Pea Ridge cemetery. Mr. Brown, who formerly lived in Pittsburgh, Penn., recently visited his foster son, J.H. Van Alst, who lives east of Pineville. He then went to Siloam Springs where he passed away. Mr. Brown was a Civil War veteran.

The body of Beattie Brown, about 90 years old, who died suddenly in his hotel room at Siloam Springs Friday night, was brought to the Callison funeral home where it is being held pending completion of funeral arrangements. Mr. Brown, a United States civil war prisoner, recently visited his foster son, J.H. Van Alst, whose home is about six miles east of Pineville, Mo., had been a guest at the hotel for several days and apparently was in good health. He was stricken ill early Friday night and died about 9 o'clock. The Callison mortuary was called to Siloam Springs about 11 p.m. Mr. Brown formerly lived at Pittsburgh, Pa. but little has been learned here concerning his family. Relatives were notified early Saturday of the aged man's death and funeral arrangements are being withheld pending receipt of instructions.
