Mrs. Lahoma Kay Roberts, 67, of Gravette, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, after a sudden illness.
Lahoma entered this life on July 29, 1946 in Sycamore Springs, Oklahoma, born to the union of Cephus Wesley and Ella Mae (Wilson) Sourjohn. She was raised in Delaware County Oklahoma and was a graduate of Grove High School. She has been a resident of Gravette, Arkansas for the last forty-two years. Besides being a devoted homemaker and wonderful caregiver, Lahoma had worked at Sweet and Sassy, Gravette Public Schools, City of Gravette and the Gravette Senior Center. She enjoyed quilting and attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Sulphur Springs, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son; a brother, John Parker; an infant sister; and her mother-in-law, Maxine Roberts.
Lahoma is survived by four sons, Jheri Roberts and wife, Belinda, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Nelson Roberts, Jr. and wife, Lynda, of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, Larry Roberts of Bentonville, Arkansas and Evan “Tito” Roberts of Gravette, Arkansas; two daughters, Markeitah Woodcock and husband, Gene, of Gravette, Arkansas and Nelletah “Gooch” Self and husband, Russ Edens, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Jean Blackfox of Oaks, Oklahoma, Ailene Dude of Peridot, Arizona, Sue King of Zena, Oklahoma, Sammie Hedgpath of Jay, Oklahoma and Rosie Ramseyer also of Jay; her stepmother, Wilma Sourjohn of Jay; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts are 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Centerton, Arkansas with Bro. Jheri Roberts officiating and Al West delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse, Arkansas. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Aaron, Adam, Koal, Levi and Kilby Roberts and C.D. Woodcock. Blake Rutherford, Garrett Self, Dylan Edens, Alex Brent, J.J. Edens and Shannon Goad will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the church.
