ROBERTS, Joe E. - The sad news was received here yesterday that Joe E. Roberts, son of Mrs. E.H. Roberts of this place, was killed while performing his duties as brakeman on a freight train on the Santa Fe Ry., the sad accident occurring at Guthrie, Okla. Wednesday morning. We have been unable to learn the particulars in detail but from the best information we can gather it seems that deceased was assisting in making up a train at Guthrie to carry the fire department of that place to Oklahoma City where a destructive fire was raging and in the rush which such a condition of affairs would naturally create the young man fell from the train and was instantly killed. Relatives left immediately to accompany the remains home and a telegram states that they will arrive Saturday morning. Besides a loving mother and four sisters, many relatives and friends mourn the untimely death of the unfortunate young man and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing ones in their bereavement.
