ROBERTS, Celia - Mrs. Celia Roberts departed this life at her late home on Pea Ridge Oct. 15, 1897. She was born Nov. 14, 1820 and hence wanted but a few days to have reached the advanced age of seventy-seven years. She was born and reared amid the beautiful hills and clear running streams of Middle Tennessee where at the age of twenty she was united in marriage to Joseph P. Roberts and removed with him to Missouri about the year 1844. In 1872 she came to Bentonville and the remainder of her days were spent in Benton county. Five of her children - the only ones now alive - together with an adopted daughter, attended her to her last resting place though not all of them were permitted to see the going out of the beautiful life they had so long and so tenderly loved. The sympathy of a large concourse of people and the watchful care given to our dear mother during her brief illness shall never be forgotten. Is, however, only another manifestation of that kind, unselfish consideration so characteristic of the people of Arkansas. May God, in his infinite mercy, remember them and hosts of friends to their bedside of affliction and death when they are called upon to drink the bitter cup of Gethsemane's trying bout. Dear mother, farewell! but only for a little while. Most of your surviving children have already started down life's western slope and but a few more days of uncertainty and disappointment and sorrow and they will reach the silent river that flows at its base and be triumphantly carried over (God grant it!) to the blissful shore beyond where you and father and dear brothers and sisters gone on before will welcome us to joys unspeakable and bliss eternal.
