ROBERTS, James T. - James T. Roberts died at his residence, 713 West Walnut street in this city Wednesday at 1:30 in his sixty-fourth year. He was born at London Mills, Ill. September 23, 1851. He was married January 13, 1885 at Seward, Neb. to Miss Letitia E. Murphy and to this union was born four children. He came to Rogers with his family in September 1907 from Stratton, Colo. where he was in business over twenty years. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and three daughters, Miss Hazel, who is principal of the High Schools at Stuttgart, this state, Miss Suzanne and Miss Roberta, who are with their mother; Inez, their second daughter, died at the home in this city March 31, 1908. Mr. Roberts was a kind and loving husband and father. Truly he was a business man. All propositions from a business point of view was carefully considered by him before any action was taken. He was a man of strong convictions and did not jump at conclusions. He was honest in all his dealings with the business world. He was a man well informed and being a cripple he gave a great deal of his time to books and business propositions and did not mingle a great deal with the general public. He built one of the finest residences in the city. He was proprietor of the Orchard Place, a fruit and stock farm north of town and looked after this farm and directed its management. In his death this community loses a friend and neighbor and one of the most substantial business men. The funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2:30 at the home. The Democrat extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
