WILSON, Ella Jay PHAGAN - {from The Siloam Springs Daily Register} Mrs. Ella Jay Wilson was born December 15, 1855, six miles north of Siloam Springs, the eldest child of Major William Phagan and Martha Morrison Phagan, and died August 6, 1926 at her home on North Hill. March 16, 1879 she was married to Albert Rice Wilson of Bloomfield, Ark. who preceded her in death five years ago. One child was born to this union, a daughter who died in infancy. In later years they adopted a boy, Arthur D. Stokes, who has been with the family ever since. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her foster son, a sister, Mrs. J.T. Clegg of this city, and a brother, John C. Phagan, west of this city. The passing of Mrs. Wilson brings to a close another of the old families of West Benton county. For many years the town of Bloomfield was known as the home of Albert Wilson, whose house was always open to the traveler of that day and there are many of the people of Siloam Springs who have partaken of the hospitality of the table or house. Mrs. Wilson has witnessed all the important events of the Civil War up to the present day. The harrowing days of the war, the uncertainty of the Beck-Proctor feud, could be told by her to the minutest detail. Many stories could she tell of the early political struggle of the county, of the coming of the railway, and toward the end, of the campaigns to sell Liberty bonds for the assistance of the country in the World War. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, August 8th from the Bloomfield church at 3 o'clock with interment in the Bloomfield cemetery.

WILSON, Albert - Albert Wilson, one of the best known citizens of west Benton county, died at his home in Bloomfield Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the family home Tuesday afternoon. The funeral was largely attended. Many Masons were present as the deceased had been a prominent member of this order for many years. He is survived by his widow. Mr. Wilson was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson, one of the first settlers and merchants in the western part of the county. Before the building of the K.C. Southern railway Bloomfield was a very important trading point and the seat of the Bloomfield Academy, one of the most important schools in Benton county. P.A. Rodgers, well known in the county but who now lives in McAllen, Texas, was at one time a principal in this academy. At the death of their father, Albert Wilson and his brother, Joe Wilson, conducted the store and did a very profitable business for many years. Wm. Wilson was one of the first raisers of registered Hereford cattle in the state and for many years his was considered the largest and best bunch of cattle in the state.
