Alice Viola Kelly was born in Pinckneyville, Ill, on January 21st, 1868. She departed this life on Sept. 12th, 1936, at the age of 88 years, seven months and 22 days. She was united in marriage with B.F. Wilson on Sept. 22nd, 1897, at Mackinaw, Ill. They came to Arkansas in February 1903, and have made their home here these 38 years. These years have been full yeas of living for Aunt Alice, as we all love to remember her. She was always busy helping make life brighter and better for someone. Many are the little tokens of love that hang on the walls of each home in her community that were that were fashioned by her hands. Many times she has gone to help others when her physical body would cry out in protest, but she seemed to find comfort and consolation in serving others.
She was converted in October 1908, and some few mothers later joined the M.E. Church, South, at Council Grove, of which she has remained a faithful and helpful member until her death. She always showed her love for her God and the church by her conduct and her faithfulness to every phase of the church work.
She is survived by her husband “Uncle Benny, as we all call him”; an adopted daughter, Mrs. John Wallis; one brother, Reuben Kelley of Illinois; two grandchildren, Wilson and Rodney Wallis; a niece, Mrs. Ed Heffield, and a host of friends and neighbors.
