BENTONVILLE — Bob "Joe Bob" Wilson, 79, of Bentonville died Oct. 25, 2008, at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Centerton to Claude Edwin Wilson and Mamie Lou Koons Wilson.
He retired after 17 years of service to Wal-Mart. He was the third truck driver hired in 1970, and advanced to Operations Manager of the Wal-Mart fleet. He was married to his wife, Jennie, for 52 years, and they loved to fish, camp and travel the United States. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Mike; and a grandson.
Survivors include two sons, Robby Wilson of Bentonville and Stanley Wilson and wife Mary Jane of Bentonville; two daughters, Patsy Payne and husband Keith of Bentonville and Sally Wilson of Tulsa, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Rex Dickey officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Jacobs, Josh Hartsfield, Frank Whatley, and grandsons Nick Payne, Josh Wilson, and Jason Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be all past and present truck drivers for Wal-Mart.
Memorials may be made in honor of Joe Bob Wilson to Miller Community Church. Online condolences may be made at stockdalefuneral.com.
