WILSON, Amon McClain - Amon McClain Wilson died Thursday night, October 6th at his home in this city, No. 113 North Third street, at the age of eighty years, ten months and six days. Funeral services were held from the home Saturday afternoon at three o'clock and were conducted by Rev. E.G. Downs, pastor of the Central Methodist church. Burial was in the Rogers cemetery. Mr. Wilson had been in feeble health for several years but had been able to get down town nearly every day for a portion of the time until ten days before his death. For a number of years he had made his home with his daughters but for two years past had been here with his only son, John Wilson, of the Rogers Transfer Co. He was an uncle of Miss Mae Saunders and Mrs. Curry Thompson of Rogers. Mr. Wilson was born January 1, 1847 near Greensburg, Pa. where he grew to young manhood. He then went to Illinois where he was married at the age of 24 years to Miss Martha Ann Ellison who died September 1, 1918. To them were born four children, three of whom are still living - Mrs. F.T. Kern of Lancaster, Pa.; Mrs. H.J. Wilson of St. Louis and John Wilson of Rogers. The family came to Rogers from Illinois in 1902. Since the death of his wife Mr. Wilson had made his home with his children. Mr. Wilson had a large circle of friends in Rogers and while poor health had kept him closely at home or the office of his son since his return to Rogers, he was known to many of our people who regret to learn of his death.
