Janie Mae Johnson, 71, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully August 14, 2021, at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. Janie was born September 18, 1949, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Donald and Gertrude Wilson Hobson. A graduate of Huntsville High School, she later retired after 41 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) and was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship in Fayetteville.

Janie enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, working crossword puzzles, and researching family genealogy. She was an avid reader and Scrabble player, but more than anything she loved doting on and spoiling those she loved, from shopping and having coffee dates with her daughters to buying presents for her husband, who always insisted he didn’t want anything. Her humble spirit meant she easily found joy in the small things: Valentine’s cards from her husband, Saturday lunches with her sister, phone calls from family, fresh summer tomatoes, and the occasional fresh glazed doughnut. She was generous and kind to all she met.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary D. “Jack” Johnson; two daughters, Jamie Thompson, husband Rocky Thompson, of Springdale, and Jaclyn Johnson, husband Jordan Johnson, of Fayetteville; her sister, Donna Hobson of Springdale; and three beloved grandchildren, Stone Thompson, Ridglee Thompson, and Eloise Jane Kay Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Merl Hobson. She always took hope in her Heavenly life that awaits and will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Garfield. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Online condolences to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
