AVOCA - Charles George "Sam" Johnson, 74, of Avoca, passed away March 12, 2015. He was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Garfield to Jess and Joyce Williams Johnson.
Before working in the maintenance department at Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village in Bentonville, Sam lived in the Avoca, Ark., and Cassville, Mo., area where he built fence and managed several farms. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors.
He was a member of the Daystar Church of God. Sam was a previous board member for the Avoca Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Lore Johnson of the home; two sons, Jeff Johnson and wife Patty of Cassville, Mo., and Jason Johnson and wife Susie of Lincolnville, Kan.; two brothers, Dale Johnson and wife Joan and Jack Johnson and wife Janie both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Margaret Jump and husband Eldon of Washburn, Mo., and Vida Finch and husband Walter of Cassville, Mo.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several step grandchildren; and step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at the Daystar Church of God with Pastor Lowell Sartin officiating. Interment in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 Sunday at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th, Rogers. Memorial contributions to Walnut Hill Cemetery Association. Online condolences to www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
