JOHNSON, Daniel Andrew - Daniel Andrew Johnson, the sixteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Johnson, died at the home of Mr. Wm. Frazer in this city Saturday morning August 20th, 1898. The deceased was a bright and promising boy and was always a favorite among his playmates, ever willing and obedient in answering the wants of his parents and will be sadly missed from the family circle. The remains were conveyed to Bethel cemetery Sunday morning followed by a number of sympathizing friends, where last services were held and conducted by Rev. W.H. Hatfield. The deceased leaves to mourn his untimely demise a father, mother, sister and three brothers who have the sincere sympathy of their new made friends at this place and their numerous friends and relatives at their home in Missouri. This death was a sad affair in the extreme. On August 4th Mr. Johnson and family and a young man who works for him, started from his home in Allendale, north Missouri in a wagon. All were well, light-hearted and in the best of spirits for enjoying a pleasant visit and outing from the routine of daily labor. Everything went well until they passed Carthage, Mo. and camped for the night when some boys came to the camp and in jumping this boy received some internal injuries from which he never recovered. They came on to Neosho where the family took the train and arrived here Friday evening. They came first to pay a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Frazer of this city, Mrs. Frazer being a cousin to Mrs. Johnson and were raised together but had not seen each other for about eighteen years. After their visit here it was their intention to go to Oklahoma and through Kansas home, making them a considerable outing and what promised to be a most pleasant trip. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson wishes the News to tender their sincere thanks to the good people of Gravett for their kindness during the sickness, death and burial of their son.
