PHILLIPS, Blanche - (from Cherokee City) Miss Blanche Phillips, 15 years of age, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips whose home is north of town, died suddenly of heart failure Oct. 27, 1912. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and their three daughters were in a grove near their home gathering nuts. Blanche, apparently well and happy, ran towards the house to see if some neighbor girls were coming who had promised to join them in the afternoon. Mrs. Phillips, passing the same way in a few minutes, found her daughter dead. No one saw her fall. It was indeed a sad death. To show sympathy nearly every family in the community was represented at the funeral. School was dismissed for the afternoon; the teachers and most of the pupils attending the funeral. Blanche was an intelligent girl. Lovingly Blanche's body, with the flowers, was interred in the Dixon cemetery.
