PHILLIPS, B.C. (Carse) - B.C. (Carse) Phillips, widely known farmer and citizen, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home southeast of Gravette of heart failure while eating breakfast. He was 77 years of age and had been in comparatively good health up until the time he was stricken. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this week if he had lived. Mr. Phillips was born on the old Phillips homestead and had spent all of his life there. He was also one of the oldest Masons in the Gravette community. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. A.L. Riggs, pastor of the Gravette M.E. Church. The Gravette Masonic Lodge had charge of the burial at the Bethel cemetery. Besides his widow he is survived by nine children: Kit Phillips of Gravette; Mack and Yell Phillips of Idabel, Okla.; Elbert and James Phillips of Kansas City; Mrs. Marie Hager of Ventura, Calif.; Mrs. Florence Patton of Gravette; Mrs. Esther Fields of Vinita, Okla. and Hugh Phillips of the home.
