PHILLIPS, H.C. - H.C. Phillips died on last Thursday evening at eight o'clock after a short illness of only two or three days. His death was caused by paralysis and heart trouble. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon at the M.E. church of which the deceased was a member. The services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Maddox of Bentonville and the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Mr. Phillips was born in this state on February 2, 1844, being fifty-five years, five months and four days old at the time of his death. He came to Rogers in August 1895 and since that time had made his home here each summer. He owned a large plantation near Pine Bluff where he spent the winters. The climate there did not agree with him and he said recently that he felt he had remained there too long this spring. He was married to his present wife in April 1895. He left no children by this marriage but has two daughters by a former one. Mrs. Phillips expects to remain in Rogers and will make this place her future home. The death of Mr. Phillips has caused a genuine regret throughout the town for the deceased was a favorite with all whom he met and had a large circle of acquaintances here.

PHILLIPS, Salina LANCASTER - Mrs. Salina Phillips, a former resident of Rogers, died Tuesday of last week at Mineral Wells, Texas where she had been living for several years for the benefit of her health. The body was brought to Rogers for interment beside the grave of her husband, H.C. Phillips, who died here some years ago. The body arrived Friday morning and funeral services were held at the M.E. church that afternoon at four o'clock, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.R. Nelson. Both Mr. and Mrs. Phillips had been members of the local church, having united in 1898, shortly after they came here. Mrs. Phillips was about fifty-five years old and her maiden name was Lancaster. She was married in 1894 to H.C. Phillips and at that time they lived near Pine Bluff. Several years later they came to Rogers and purchased the property, corner of Third and Cherry streets, afterwards owned by John E. Felker, which they greatly improved and where they made their home until Mr. Phillips' death. He left considerable property and Mrs. Phillips divided her time between Rogers and Althemier, where she had a large farm. Her health was poor and she finally went to Mineral Wells to live. She was very popular among those who knew her best but was a quiet reserved woman who made few new acquaintances. For several years she was a familiar figure here owing to the regularity with which she made a daily trip to the Electric Springs. She left no children but the following relatives were at the funeral: Sisters, Mrs. Jennie Erwin and Mrs. John Anglemire of Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Lillie McEwing of Hot Springs, Ark.; Mrs. F.L. Boling and husband of Oklahoma, and a niece, Miss Beulah Osborne, also of Rockford.
