GRAVETTE — Kit Rodgers "Podgie" Phillips, 89, of Gravette died Nov. 23, 2004, at Gravette. He was born July 22, 1915, in Vaughn to Kit and Kate Rodgers Phillips. He was a Baptist, a volunteer fireman and was a founding member of the Coffee Club. His interests included golfing, fishing, hunting, bird watching and gardening. He was preceded in death by one daughter and one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Nell of the home; one son, Kit Virgil Phillips of Gravette; two daughters, Mary Ruth Griffin and husband Charles of Gravette and Peggy Jane Burks and husband Jerry of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one brother, Jack Phillips of Gravette; 11 grand-children; 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Gravette. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Service, Gravette.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
