LOCATION: Williams Cemetery is located northeast of Gamaliel. At the intersection of SR101 and CR43 take CR43 4 miles east. The telephone company has installed a telephone remote on the right side of the road. Williams Cemetery is located approximately 200’ east of the telephone remote equipment in the wooded overgrown area. Cemetery is fenced on the noth and south sides.
INFORMATION: Baxter County Historical Society in their 1994 book “Of Grave Importance” state: The Williams Cemetery was begun in 1891 when David and Georgia Edmiaston conveyed to Jesse Williams, certain lands for a cemetery and Methodist-Episcopal Church, (the church was never built). Based upon the burial dates this site had been a burial location for at least 27 years prior to this purchase based upon the gravestone dates..

CONDITION: This cemetery is completely overgrown with weeds chest high. Has four to five above ground vaults. Most gravestones are broken, knocked over and laying on the ground.
AGE: Oldest readable stone during the Hubbard – Grayham survey was 1864. Most recent is 1910.
