Thacker Cemetery
Baxter County,

LOCATION: Thacker Cemetery is located north of Mountain Home.. From the center of Mountain Home take Hwy 201 north approximately 8 miles to CR 479 (Thacker Cemetery Road). Large sign “Thacker Cemetery 1 Mile” is at the intersection pointing east. Turn east on CR 479 and travel 1.4 miles to Thacker Cemetery at the end of the main road.

This cemetery initial beginning is recorded in the area’s history: A pioneer family on their way west, stopped to camp near what is now Thacker Cemetery. They had a sick child who died and it was the first to be buried there. The grave was covered with large flat rock which can still be seen. 2009 still marks the grave.

Green Briar and Dennis Cemeteries were relocated to Thacker Cemetery during the construction of Norfork Dam..

This cemetery has two divisions. As you drive up to the chain linked fence there is a separate fenced area to the right. Three readable stones with the remain 20+ field stones – non readable or marked stones. On the left is the current portion of the cemetery with 100+ markers.
