Hamp A. Smith, 62, died at his home at Hopewell On Wednesday, June 13, 1900. He was born in Georgia in December 1837, to Joebe and Melissa Hall Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Galatia Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; two sons, Frank W. and John A. Smith; two daughters, Fannie (Mrs. John) Rosenbaum and Parlei A. Smith; four brothers, Jim, Hoh, Minor and Hiram Smith; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four children.
Funeral services were conducted at the Galatia Methodist Episcopal Church, South with burial in the Galatia Cemetery.
