*Obituary

James M. (sic) 'Jim' Smith, 48, died at his home south of Devero on Sunday, February 2, 1902. He was born in Georgia on February 8, 1853, to Jobe and Melissa Hall Smith. He was married to the former Fannie Cromer.
Survivors include his wife; three sons of the home, Andrew, Lewis, and Walter Smith; three daughters, Lena (Mrs. Preston B.) Trindle, Mallissie (Mrs. Will Henry) Vickery, and Lizzied (Mrs. Matthew) Arnold; six grandchildren; three brothers, John, Minor and Hiram Smith; two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amanda, his parents, two children and a brother, Hamp Smith.
Funeral services were conducted at the Galatia Methodist Episcopal Church, South with burial in the Galatia Cemetery.
