*obituary
Rev. J.B. Smith of Shady Grove neighborhood died vary suddenly Thursday night of last week. While Mr. Smith had been in rather bad health for some time, he was able to be about and do his work and his death was a shock and surprise to his friends and family. It seems that he had gotten up during the night to see about something about the house and when he returned to his bed, sat down on the side of it, began groaning and died before the members of the family realized there were any danger.
Mr. Smith was one of the best known citizens of our county and was a man who took a deep interest in the betterment and advancement of all. He was an ordained minister of the Missionary Baptist Church and gave a great deal of attention to religious work. He was a kind husband, father, neighbor and friend, and will be sadly missed. The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of all.
