1889 - 1965
Mrs. Ola Wheelis Lewis, 77, of Strong, died early Friday morning in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 11, 1887, at Strong, she had been a lifelong resident of Union County. Her parents were L. M. and Della Smith Wheelis. Survivors include a son, C. H. Lewis, Jr., of Strong; two daughters, Mrs. Harold McLendon of Bastrop, La., and Capt. Mary F. Lewis of Indianapolis, Ind.; three brothers, J. B. Wheelis and Colvin Wheelis, both of Mobile, Ala., and W. C. Wheelis of El Dorado, a sister, Mrs. W. G. Suagee of Elkhart, Kan., four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Strong Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Williamson officiating. Burial will be in the Strong Cemetery by Young's. The body will be carried to the church an hour before time for the service. (The El Dorado Times - October 15, 1965)
