James (Jim) Edward Lewis Sr., 80, of El Dorado went home to glory on July 16, 2021 at Life Touch Hospice House. He was born to Rev. William L. and Esther Lewis on November 25, 1940 in Doniphan, AR.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Rev. William Lewis, his only sister, Sandra Caudill, one son, Michael Lewis, and one daughter, Cindy Funderburg.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Lewis. His children, Robert Lewis of Indianapolis, IN, James Lewis Jr. of San Diego, CA, Laura Dowling of Minneapolis, MN, Louis Lewis (Connie) of Crystal Springs, MS, William Lewis of Little Rock, Jenny New (Cliff) of Camden, Sara Rash (Jeremy) of Hot Springs, Lisa Hyman (Sean) of Frisco, TX, Jill McDougal (Jason) of Camden, Chris Cross (Leann) of El Dorado.

Grandchildren: Terra, TJ, Jennifer, Jessica, Tamara, Caitlin, Seth, Justin, Allyssa, Cannon, Brandt, Sam, Abbey, Brittany, Seth, Shane, Zachary, Lindsey, Blake, Whitley and Kamryn

Jim had several great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of cousins. Jim had a long, outstanding career in radio broadcasting. He obtained his broadcasting license in New Orleans in 1966. He worked at several radio stations across the country before working in El Dorado at KAYZ/KELD where he worked for over 20 years as a disc jockey (38 years in total).

Jim retired from South Arkansas Regional Health Center as a counsellor just a few years ago. Jim loved music and could play a harmonica like nobody’s business, being taught by his uncle Lonnie Glosson.

In retirement, he loved to go “cruising” with Wanda and enjoyed many travels. He also enjoyed camping with Wanda and taking their RV to several campsites. Jim had a large church family who he enjoyed over the years. He never met a stranger and had several life-long friends. Jim was a comedian at heart and will be missed by all who knew him.

Please come help us celebrate Jim’s amazing life at First Assembly of God, 2225 W. Hillsboro St. El Dorado, AR.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at First Assembly of God.

Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 20,2021 at First Assembly of God officiated by with Pastor Chris Cleveland, Kevin Crowley, Greg Tucker and music by Gary Hill. Followed by Interment at Parker’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Life Touch Hospice House in El Dorado or you can send flowers to First Assembly of God.
