Winfrey Edwin Lewis, Sr., 76, of Rt. 1, Louann, died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital after a brief illness. Born Jan. 29, 1895, in Columbia County, he was the son of Ed and Allie Booth Lewis. He was a retired employe of Kerr McGee Oil Co., a veteran of World War I, a member of American Legion Post 161 in Smackover and of the First Baptist Church in Smackover. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hazel Mooty Lewis, Louann; a son, W. E. Lewis, Jr., Smackover; two sisters, Mrs. Walter York, El Dorado, and Mrs. Robert Burns, Camden; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Smackover with the Rev. D. C. McAtee officiating. Burial will be in Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young's The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Thursday. The family will be at 507 E. 10th St., in Smackover.
