A funeral for William Roy Smothers of Kansas City, KS, will be 2PM Wednesday at Fairview Methodist Church in Buford. He was 91.
He was born Nov 8, 1910, at Buford to John and Hester Lovelady Smothers. He was a car inspector who retired for Union Pacific Railroad.
He is survived by 10 children, Phyllis King and husband Bill, of Huntsville, AL, Patricia Cureton of Sycamore, MO, Polly Allen Pollard and husband, Larry, of Mt. Home, Bonnie Gill of Pasadena, Texas, Bill 'Sonny' Smothers and Wife Patty, of Houston, Pamela Dunham and husband, Kurt, of Kansas City, Charles Smothers of Nashville, TN, Vincent Smothers of Houston, Nancy Smothers of Kansas City, and Shelly Smothers of Fayetteville; one brother, Howard Smothers and wife, Louise, of Kansas City; 31 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sister, one grandson and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 6-8PM today at Baxter County Funeral Home and Cremation Society.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Buford with Harold Cureton, Bruce Cureton, Robbie Allen, Josh Smothers, Trey Smothers, Jake Smothers, Michael Allen and Bruce Cureton, JR. as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by Baxter County Funeral Home and Cremation Society.
