Funeral services for James Franklin Smothers, 90, pioneer citizen of Baxter County, will be held at the Fairview Church today at 3PM, with the Rev. Guy Hopper officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, with arrangements under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
Mr. Smothers died Sunday at his home at Buford. He was born in Baxter County December 20, 1861.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence and Bruxie of Buford and Milard of San Bernardino, CA; three daughters, Mrs. John Kelley and Mrs. Ernest Sullivan of Springfield and Mrs. Clarence Whiteman of Kansas City; a brother, George Smothers of Tulsa; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
