Mrs. Opal Pearl Wood, 62, of Route B, Flippin, died Thursday of last week at the Boone County Hospital in Harrison. A Baptist, she had lived in Willow Springs, MO, before moving to Marion County six years ago.
Born Jun 24, 1914, in Douglas County, MO, Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late Jim and May Dearduff Burchett. She was married March 3, 1928, to Earl Wood who died Sep 24, 1969.
Surviving are four sons, Johnny of Harrison, Clyde and Leon of Wichita, KS and Harold of Flippin; three daughters Elva Smith of Willow Springs, Virginia Fruehan of Old Joe and Dorothy Leinger of Cotter; five brothers, John Burchett of Idaho, Virgil Lee Burchett of Enid, OK, Wayne Burchett of Aurora, MO, Frank Burchett and Lawrence Burchett of Willow Springs; six sisters, Golden Wheeler and Mabel Wake of Benton Harbor, MI, Retta Wheeler of Watervliet, MI, Antha Ford of Enid, Mary Reynolds of West Plains, MO and Edna Countryman of Wichita; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. One brother is deceased.
Services were held Sunday at the Galatia Methodist Church near Norfork, with the pastor, Rev. J.F. Friend, officiating. Interment was in the Galatia Cemetery, under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Roe Whitfield, Ralph Parnell, Morris Sherels, L.H. Clark, Gene Adams and Art DeSercy.
